Congratulations Dr. Mary Branch

Congratulations to Twin City Society Member Dr. Mary Branch MD, MS for being the recipient of the Dr. Jay Brown Best Abstract Competition 2020! This was originally scheduled for the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Conference previously planned earlier this year; however, this was postponed by the COVID19 pandemic. The event took place virtually on September 19th, 2020. The title of her talk was: “Racial Differences in Incidence of Cardiotoxicity in Breast Cancer Patients: A Real World Study.” For this $1,000 award, she competed with three other participants in training programs around the country including Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard University and Emory University Hospital/Emory University. The event was moderated by Dr. Kevin Kwaku MD, PhD, an electrophysiologist at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. She will use this funding towards her research in cardio-oncology.

In addition, she will be presenting her research this November at the American Heart Association (AHA) with the project title:” Association between Breast Cancer and Cardiac Autonomic Function as Measured by Heart Rate Variability in the Women’s Health Initiative.” She was also accepted as an AHA Early Career FIT Blogger for the event. The Twin City Society is proud to support Dr. Branch, an African American cardiology fellow, with her career endeavors.
