The Twin City Medical Society serves as the Winston-Salem\/Forsyth County branch of the National Medical Association. The Twin City Medical Society has been an ever-present force in Winston-Salem since its inception in 1904. It has been instrumental in providing access to care for the African-American residents of Winston-Salem including the efforts of former president Dr. H.T. Allen and the leadership of the Twin City Medical Society in demanding that there be a hospital built to properly care for the residents of East Winston and beyond. The Katie B. Reynolds Memorial Hospital served that purpose from 1938-1970.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Twin City Medical Society was born out of a need for community support for African American Physicians due to the segregation of the time. With a strong foundation of support, bridge builders such as Dr. Willard McCloud, Dr. Harvey Allen (HT’s son), Dr. H. Rembert Malloy, and Dr. Charlie Kennedy, were able to do amazing things. The strength of the organization allowed individuals within the organization to have a voice and a seat at the table in the planning of the direction of healthcare in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
